I love the spontaneity that I am afforded when it’s just my camera and me on a family shoot. No elaborate set-up, no fancy props… just us hanging out and having fun. Especially when it’s with one of my favorite families and friends, the Arendts. We literally just be-bopped around downtown Conway- which is super cute by the way- as I captured so many sweet moments of them. It was such a fun little adventure and I am always honored for the opportunity to make memories for families I love.

Happy Mother’s Day to one of the MOST amazing mommas that I know! xo

Baby Tanner

I was smiling from ear to ear when Mandy called me to do a session of sweet baby Tanner. I love this family to pieces! Like want to move next door kinda love. I was the lucky girl who got to photograph Mandy’s sister Jessie’s wedding (one of my all time favorites) a couple of years ago and now here I am photographing Mandy’s first baby. These opportunities and this family are exactly why I love what I do.

This precious boy did not have an easy introduction into the world since he was born 2 months premature, but you’d never know the hardships that they have endured as a family by looking at them now. They are the epitome of strength and grace and I am so proud of Mandy and the amazing mother that she is! That Tanner… he’s one lucky boy. A ridiculously cute boy, I might add. :)

Grandfather Mountain

We have been so lucky that my sister’s job has afforded her a gazillion frequent flyer miles and she’s been able to visit so often from Cali. For Christmas this past year, we decided to do something a little different to celebrate the holidays. We (all 16 of us!) spent a few days at Sugar Mountain, NC hitting the slopes and exploring Grandfather Mountain. I am sooooo in love with this area, partly because I lived across the street from Grandfather for a summer and partly because it is just so breathtaking. I could sit for hours and look out at the hazy, rippled contours of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is, for sure, my happy place. :)

Reagan: 8 months

What a treat to watch this little pumpkin grow up! We went to a park in Irmo for our early morning session and took advantage of the beautiful light that greeted us. As always, I loved hanging out with this adorable family and was glad that Reagan’s grandma could join us!

Baylee + Andrew: Engagement

When we were brainstorming about where to shoot Baylee and Andrew’s engagement session, we had one thing in mind. It had to be rural countryside. Andrew works for the Dept. of Natural Resources (such a cool job!) and realized that a family friend had the perfect location for us. I don’t think I’ve ever used the words peaceful, serene, and beautifully quiet to describe an engagement session, but it was precisely that. It was perfection.

And Baylee and Andrew? They, too, are perfection. We laughed and chatted like old friends the entire afternoon. Love them! I am super excited for their October wedding! :)

First day of preschool

The time had come. I had been putting it off, wanting her home with me… even with a baby in the house last year, I still wasn’t ready for this day. But my sweet baby girl had outgrown our days together and she needed more. She needed preschool and Gavin needed some momma time all to himself. After all, she is three and “old” now she says.

Even though I knew it was good for everyone in our house that we do this, it didn’t make it any easier to drop her off and get the wave over her shoulder as she dove into the play-doh. She is such a social being (no idea where she gets that, wink wink) so it did not surprise me that she barely noticed when I left. What happened next is what happens to every mother on their child’s first day of school. I sobbed. Then I stopped at Krispy Kreme on the drive home and drowned my sorrow in sugar.

Oh, and the backpack that is nearly as big as she is? It was a gift from a friend and she HAD to wear it. We’ve since downsized to something a wee bit smaller. :)

Greenville

Ahhhh, life. Why must you move at lightning speed when my kids are still so small? I have so many family adventures to blog about and it seems I have fallen oh, so behind in doing so.

This past October my sister came to visit us from Cali and we took her to Greenville for her first time… we did the usual… Falls Park and lunch, before the rain sent us packing for home. We did get to duck into the Chocolate Moose before we left, which if you’re a chocolate addict like me, was well worth it.

It was a quick trip, but soooo good to be outside on such a pretty day with the family.

Angie + Tim: Wedding {Magnolia Plantation Charleston, SC}

I absolutely adore Angie and Tim… as a couple, as individuals, and as my friends. I promise that you will never meet nicer people and when I met their families, I understood why. Everyone at their wedding was incredibly kind, warm, and so much fun to be around! I had the best time and was so happy to have shared that day with all of them.

Their wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston had so many special touches and GORGEOUS details! From Tim’s mom officiating the ceremony (how cool is that!), to the handmade sign directing the guests where to go, to Angie’s jewelry that belonged to her grandmother… each element was so thoughtful and lovely.

I am over the moon happy for the two of them and I wish them all of the very best!! xoxo
